This document has been developed by members of the Pacific Islands Climate Education Partnership (PCEP). It has been developed for partners of PCEP, as part of our work to systemically improve climate education in the U.S. Affiliated Pacific Islands (USAPI). This document describes what USAPI students should know and be able to do with respect to climate science by the end of Grades 2, 5, 8 and 12.


Since 2011, PCEP has been partnering with Ministries and Departments of Education around the USAP to revise national- and state-level science benchmarks to include content that builds students’ understanding of climate science. Below are examples of PCEP’s work in this context:
